Portland, Oregon (January 18, 2023)— John’s Marketplace is hosting The Original Dark Brews Fest on Saturday, Feb. 18, from 12 - 9 pm, at the Powell location 3560 SE Powell Blvd, in Portland, Oregon.
The event will feature a selection of barleywines, stouts, dark lagers, and dark sours. Not all dark beer is big beer! Plan to grab lunch with friends from The Original Food Carts surrounding the covered patio, and enjoy sampling the darkest beers. Indoor and outdoor seating will be available.
Attendees can purchase tickets here. Admission is $20 in advance, or $30 at the door, and includes a custom tasting glass and eight drink tickets (four-ounce pours.)
The inaugural festival was held March 7, 2020, roughly a week before Portland, Oregon, and most of the world, shuttered in response to the pandemic. It was called The Original Dark Brews Fest to pay homage to The Original Taco House, the Mexican restaurant that occupied the same property from 1969 until 2017. In 2021, John’s Marketplace created The Original Dark Brews Fest Covid Edition Box which included barrel-aged barleywines, stouts and a porter in crowlers, tasting glasses, beanies, coffee, and chocolate.
In 2023, the team is excited to bring back an in-person event and celebrate dark brews once again.

About John’s Marketplace
Brothers Paul and Rob Petros purchased the iconic John’s Marketplace in Multnomah Village in 2016. In 2019, they opened a second Portland location on SE Powell. Both locations have an extensive bottle shop and a bar with a dynamic draft list and sophisticated wine selection. The Multnomah location has a kitchen serving burgers and sandwiches. A third location is planned to open in Spring 2023, in Beaverton. John’s Marketplace carries the best selection of beer, wine, cider, non-alcoholic beverages, and kegs, in the Pacific Northwest.
