John’s Marketplace is building its third location, which it expects to open in spring in Beaverton. The taproom and bottle shop will take over the former home of Chelsea Audio, at 3700 S.W. Hall Blvd., next to DeCarli restaurant.
The new location, a short walk from the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts, will offer thousands of cans and bottles of beer, a curated wine section, cider, non-alcoholic beverages, snacks, and more. The 16-tap bar will serve draft beers and wines by the glass. It will also include a full kitchen, with a menu that includes smash burgers, sandwiches, soups and salads. An outdoor patio with a beer window is planned. Kegs will be available, and John’s plans Friday night beer and wine tastings, plus additional special events.
And speaking of special events, John’s Marketplace on Saturday, Feb. 18, is hosting The Original Dark Brews Fest at its Southeast Portland location. The event will feature a selection of barleywines, stouts, dark lagers, and dark sours. Food is available from The Original Food Carts surrounding the covered patio, with indoor and outdoor seating available. Go to the website for tickets and more details. Admission is $20 in advance, $30 at the door, and includes a custom tasting glass and eight drink tickets for 4-ounce pours. Noon-9 p.m. 3560 S.E. Powell Blvd.
